My name is Terry K. Gong and I am an amateur Photographer and the founder of IPA or International Photographer's Association.
I would like to explain the intent of the making these series of IPA sites and
why we are trying to get photographers of all levels and those associated to
the industry join us in this endeavor.
As stated earlier we are an association of photographers dedicated to the standardization,
educational betterment, and promotion of 'The Art of Good Photography'.
We plan to accomplish these goals by doing the following:
Establish a Registry
Establish Standards in Photography
Why Standardization?
And can anyone define or standardize photography?
The short answer is – “No. No one person can possibly make a standard in photography or art.” because, “Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.” But in truth, there are some basic standards and science to good photography that have been established over the years. As technology develops, imagery and photographic standards and paradigms will shift to the Digital World. The world market is being flooded in-bulk by images presented publicly and sold commercially.
Everyone in business knows the economic rule of ‘Supply and Demand’. If there are archives upon archives of images available, then the image supply is up and demand is low. If demand is low then the Photographer will have a hard time finding work and make a living off of his or her craft.
If
public education and awareness of photographic technique, standards, and
professional pricing for good imagery are not maintained - this technological
paradigm shift maybe unstoppable and may make the true professional or artistic
Photographer as extinct as the dinosaur.
As far as, photographic standards and technique are concern, we would like to
help hold-on to standards basic knowledge in world of photography.
All who believe that the Art of Good Photography can be preserved and basic standards be preserved - please join our group. We need Educators who care, Professionals that can explain, and Photographers to show and promote, the Art of Good Photography.
We will also need Providers and Consumers of photographs and imagery to participate and join. So we can network internationally Photographers, Providers, and Consumers.
